Type species: ¤ Aeriscardovia aeriphila Simpson et al. 2004.
Etymology: L. masc. n. aer aeris, air; N.L. fem. n. Scardovia, a bacterial generic name to honour Vittorio Scardovi, an Italian microbiologist; N.L. fem. n. Aeriscardovia, cells similar to the genus Scardovia that can grow in air.
