Type species: ¤ Amaricoccus kaplicensis Maszenan et al. 1997.
Etymology: Gr. n. amara, trench, conduit, channel; here, a sewage duct; N.L. masc. n. coccus (from Gr. masc. n. kokkos, grain, seed), coccus; N.L. masc. n. Amaricoccus, spherical cells from sewage ducts.
