Etymology: L. masc. n. arcus, a bow, arc; L. fem. n. cella, a store-room and in biology a cell; N.L. fem. n. Arcicella, arc-shaped cell.

Etymology: L. fem. adj. aquatica, aquatic; Arcicella species from water.
