Type genus: ¤ Bdellovibrio Stolp and Starr 1963 (Approved Lists 1980).
Etymology: N.L. masc. n. Bdellovibrio, type genus of the order; suff. -ales, ending denoting an order; N.L. fem. pl. n. Bdellovibrionales, the Bdellovibrio order.
