Type species: ¤ Aquisalimonas asiatica Márquez et al. 2007.
Etymology: L. n. aqua, water; L. n. sal salis, salt; L. fem. n. monas, a unit, a monad; N.L. fem. n. Aquisalimonas, a bacterium living in salted water.
