Type species: ¤ Asaccharobacter celatus Minamida et al. 2008.
Etymology: Gr. pref. a-, not; Gr. n. saccharon, sugar; N.L. masc. n. bacter, a rod; N.L. masc. n. Asaccharobacter, rod that does not digest sugar.
