Type species: ¤ Bogoriella caseilytica Groth et al. 1997.
Etymology: N.L. dim. fem. n. Bogoriella, named after Lake Bogoria in Kenya, the place from which isolate HKI 0088T originated.

Etymology: L. n. caseus, cheese; N.L. adj. lyticus -a -um (from Gr. adj. lutikos -ê -on), able to loose, able to dissolve; N.L. fem. adj. caseilytica, loosening or dissolving casein.
