Etymology: N.L. fem. n. Bogoriella, type genus of the family; suff. -aceae, ending to denote a family; N.L. fem. pl. n. Bogoriellaceae, the Bogoriella family.

Etymology: N.L. dim. fem. n. Bogoriella, named after Lake Bogoria in Kenya, the place from which isolate HKI 0088T originated.
