Type species: ¤ Bulleidia extructa Downes et al. 2000.
Etymology: N.L. fem. n. Bulleidia, named to honor Arthur Bulleid, a distinguished British oral microbiologist.

Etymology: L. (sic) fem. adj. extructa, slow, referring to the slow growth of the organism.

Note: The etymology of the specific epithet is given as L. adj. extructus, slow, referring to the slow growth of the organism. However, the Latin adjective extructus a um (or exstructus a um) means furnished, put together, constructed, raised etc.
