Caenispirillum Yoon et al. 2007, gen. nov.
Type species: ¤ Caenispirillum bisanense Yoon et al. 2007.
Etymology: L. n. caenum, sludge, mud; L. n. spira, a spiral; N.L. dim. neut. n. spirillum, a small spiral; N.L. neut. n. Caenispirillum, a small spiral isolated from sludge.

Caenispirillum bisanense Yoon et al. 2007, sp. nov. (Type species of the genus).
Type strain (see also StrainInfo.net): strain K92 = JCM 14346 = KCTC 12839.
GenBank/EMBL/DDBJ accession number for the 16S rRNA gene sequence of the type strain: EF100694.
Etymology: N.L. neut. adj. bisanense, of Bisan, Daegu, Korea, from where the type strain was isolated.
