Type species: ¤ Emticicia oligotrophica Sha and Chakrabarti 2006.
Etymology: N.L. fem. n. Emticicia, arbitrarily formed from the acronym MTCC for Microbial Type Culture Collection and Gene Bank, where this investigation was carried out.

Emticicia ginsengisoli Liu et al. 2008, sp. nov.
Type strain (see also StrainInfo.net): strain Gsoil 085 = KCTC 12588 = LMG 23396.
GenBank/EMBL/DDBJ accession number for the 16S rRNA gene sequence of the type strain: AB245370.
Etymology: N.L. n. ginsengum, ginseng; L. n. solum, soil; N.L. gen. n. ginsengisoli, of soil from a ginseng field, the source of the type strain.

Etymology: Gr. adj. oligos, few; Gr. adj. trophikos, nursing, tending or feeding; N.L. fem. adj. oligotrophica, eating little, referring to a bacterium living on low-nutrient media.
