Flavobacteria Cavalier-Smith 2002, class. nov.
Type order: ¤ Cytophagales Leadbetter 1974 (Approved Lists 1980).
Etymology: N.L. neut. n. Flavobacterium, one genus of the class; suff. -ia, ending to denote a class; N.L. neut. pl. n. Flavobacteria, the Flavobacterium class.
