Type species: ¤ Fulvimarina pelagi Cho and Giovannoni 2003.
Etymology: L. adj. fulvus, brownish-yellow; L. fem. adj. marina, of the sea; N.L. fem. n. Fulvimarina, brownish-yellow bacterium isolated from sea water.
Reference: CHO (J.C.) and GIOVANNONI (S.J.): Fulvimarina pelagi gen. nov., sp. nov., a marine bacterium that forms a deep evolutionary lineage of descent in the order 'Rhizobiales'. Int. J. Syst. Evol. Microbiol., 2003, 53, 1853-1859.
