Type species: ¤ Geminicoccus roseus Foesel et al. 2008.
Etymology: L. adj. geminus, twin, double; N.L. masc. n. coccus (from Gr. masc. n. kokkos, grain, seed), coccus; N.L. masc. n. Geminicoccus, two coccoid cells.
