Type species: ¤ Gracilimonas tropica Choi et al. 2009.
Etymology: L. adj. gracilis, slender, thin; L. fem. n. monas, a unit, monad; N.L. fem. n. Gracilimonas, thin unit (bacterium), relating to its shape.
