Etymology: N.L. adj. granulosus, granular; N.L. masc. n. coccus (from Gr. masc. n. kokkos, grain, seed), coccus; N.L. masc. n. Granulosicoccus, a granular coccus.

Etymology: N.L. n. coccus (from Gr. n. kokkos, grain, seed), a coccus; L. suff. -oides (from Gr. suff. eides, from Gr. n. eidos, that which is seen, form, shape, figure) resembling, similar; N.L. masc. adj. coccoides, similar to a round, ball-shaped cell morphology.
