Type species: ¤ Hylemonella gracilis (Canale-Parola et al. 1966) Spring et al. 2004.
Etymology: N.L. fem. dim. n. Hylemonella, named in honour of Philip B. Hylemon who made important contributions to the taxonomy of freshwater spirilla.
