Type species: ¤ Luteimicrobium subarcticum Hamada et al. 2010.
Etymology: L. adj. luteus, yellow; N.L. neut. n. microbium, microbe; N.L. neut. n. Luteimicrobium, a yellow microbe.

Luteimicrobium subarcticum Hamada et al. 2010, sp. nov. (Type species of the genus).
Type strain (see also StrainInfo.net): strain R19-04 = DSM 22413 = NBRC 105647.
GenBank/EMBL/DDBJ accession number for the 16S rRNA gene sequence of the type strain: AB489904.
Etymology: L. prep. sub, low, below, under; L. neut. adj. arcticum, northern, arctic; N.L. neut. adj. subarcticum, subarctic, referring to the isolation of the type strain from the subarctic Rishiri Island.
