Type species: ¤ Marinithermus hydrothermalis Sako et al. 2003.
Etymology: L. adj. marinus, of the sea; Gr. adj. thermos, hot; N.L. masc. n. Marinithermus, an organism living in marine hot places.

Note: The gender of the genus name Marinithermus is not given in the paper by Sako et al. 2003. According to Rule 65(2), Marinithermus must be in the masculine gender.
