Type genus: ¤ Nocardioides Prauser 1976 (Approved Lists 1980).
Etymology: N.L. masc. n. Nocardioides, type genus of the family; suff. -aceae, ending to denote a family; N.L. fem. pl. n. Nocardioidaceae, the Nocardioides family.
