Type species: ¤ Owenweeksia hongkongensis Lau et al. 2005.
Etymology: N.L. fem. n. Owenweeksia, named after Owen B. Weeks, who did a lot of work in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s on Flavobacterium, Cytophaga and related species.
