Palleronia marisminoris Martínez-Checa et al. 2005, sp. nov. (Type species of the genus).
Type strain (see also StrainInfo.net): strain B33 = CECT 7066 = LMG 22959.
GenBank/EMBL/DDBJ accession number for the 16S rRNA gene sequence of the type strain: AY926462.
Etymology: L. gen. n. maris, of the sea; L. adj. comp. minor, smaller; N.L. gen. n. marisminoris, of the smaller sea, i.e. from el Mar Menor, a shallow area of sea highly sheltered from the Mediterranean sea on the south-eastern coast of Spain, from whence the type strain was isolated.
