Type species: ¤ Paraferrimonas sedimenticola Khan and Harayama 2007.
Etymology: Gr. prep. para, beside; N.L. fem. n. Ferrimonas, a bacterial genus name; N.L. fem. n. Paraferrimonas, beside Ferrimonas.
Reference: KHAN (S.T.) and HARAYAMA (S.): Paraferrimonas sedimenticola gen. nov., sp. nov., a marine bacterium of the family Ferrimonadaceae. Int. J. Syst. Evol. Microbiol., 2007, 57, 1493-1498.

Paraferrimonas sedimenticola Khan and Harayama 2007, sp. nov. (Type species of the genus).
Type strain (see also StrainInfo.net): strain Mok-106 = CIP 109284 = NBRC 101628.
GenBank/EMBL/DDBJ accession number for the 16S rRNA gene sequence of the type strain: AB252732.
Etymology: L. neut. n. sedimentum, a settling, sediment; L. suffix -cola, dweller; N.L. masc. n. sedimenticola, sediment dweller, referring to the isolation of the strains from sediment at Okinawa Island.
