Type species: ¤ Paucimonas lemoignei (Delafield et al. 1965) Jendrossek 2001.
Etymology: L. adj. paucus, little, few; L. fem. n. monas, unit, monad; N.L. fem. n. Paucimonas, a unit (bacterium) with restricted (few) metabolic capacities.
