Pelagibacillus Kim et al. 2007, gen. nov.
Type species: ¤ Pelagibacillus goriensis Kim et al. 2007.
Etymology: L. n. pelagus, the sea; L. dim. n. bacillus, small rod; N.L. masc. n. Pelagibacillus, bacillus pertaining to the sea.

---> ¤ Terribacillus An et al. 2007 emend. Krishnamurthi and Chakrabarti et al. 2008.

Note: Krishnamurthi and Chakrabarti 2009 propose to transfer ¤ Pelagibacillus goriensis Kim et al. 2007 (the type species of the genus Pelagibacillus) to the genus ¤ Terribacillus as ¤ Terribacillus goriensis (Kim et al. 2007) Krishnamurthi and Chakrabarti  2008, comb. nov. According to Rule 37a, bacteriologists adhering to this proposal must change the name Pelagibacillus to ¤ Terribacillus.
