Type species: ¤ Plantactinospora mayteni Qin et al. 2009.
Etymology: L. n. planta, a plant; Gr. n. actis actinos, a ray; Gr. fem. n. spora, a seed, and in biology a spore; N.L. fem. n. Plantactinospora, pertaining to a spore-forming actinomycete isolated from plant tissues.
