Type species: ¤ Prolinoborus fasciculus (Strength et al. 1976) Pot et al. 1992.
Etymology: N.L. n. prolinum, the amino acid proline; Gr. adj. boros, gluttonous, voracious N.L. masc. n. Prolinoborus (bacteria) that readily consume proline.
