Type species: ¤ Pusillimonas noertemannii Stolz et al. 2005.
Etymology: L. adj. pusillus, very small, minute; L. fem. n. monas, unit, monad; N.L. fem. n. Pusillimonas, very small monad, referring to the small size of cells and colonies of the type species.
