Classification (Warning: see also the file "Classification of prokaryotes: Introduction").

Reichenbachiella Nedashkovskaya et al. 2005, gen. nov.
Type species: ¤ Reichenbachiella agariperforans Nedashkovskaya et al. 2005.
Illegitimate synonym: ¤ Reichenbachia Nedashkovskaya et al. 2003.
Etymology: N.L. fem. dim. n. Reichenbachiella, named in honour of Hans Reichenbach, a German microbiologist who has made a great contribution to the taxonomy of bacteria belonging to the phylum "Bacteroidetes".
Reference: NEDASHKOVSKAYA (O.I.), KIM (S.B.), SUZUKI (M.), SHEVCHENKO (L.S.), LEE (M.S.), LEE (K.H.), PARK (M.S.), FROLOVA (G.M.), OH (H.W.), BAE (K.S.), PARK (H.Y.) and MIKHAILOV (V.V.): Pontibacter actiniarum gen. nov., sp. nov., a novel member of the phylum 'Bacteroidetes', and proposal of Reichenbachiella gen. nov. as a replacement for the illegitimate prokaryotic generic name Reichenbachia Nedashkovskaya et al. 2003. Int. J. Syst. Evol. Microbiol., 2005, 55, 2583-2588.
Original article in IJSEM Online

Note: The name Reichenbachia Nedashkovskaya et al. 2003 is illegitimate because of precedence of Reichenbachia Sprengel 1823 (a plant belonging to the family Nyctaginaceae) and a later homonym of Reichenbachia Leach 1826 (an insect belonging to the family Staphylinidae). [Principle 2, Rule 51b(4)]. Consequently, a new genus designation Reichenbachiella has been proposed by Nedashkovskaya et al. 2005.

Etymology: N.L. fem. dim. n. Reichenbachiella, named in honour of Hans Reichenbach, a German microbiologist who has made a great contribution to the taxonomy of bacteria belonging to the phylum "Bacteroidetes".
