Etymology: L. fem. n. robigo -inis, rust; L. fem. n. talea, a slender staff, rod, stick; N.L. fem. n. Robiginitalea, a rust-coloured rod.

Etymology: L. fem. adj. biformata, doubleformed, two-shaped, pertaining to the different cell morphology in different growth phases.
