Etymology: Gr. adj. streptos, pliant, easily twisted; N.L. neut. n. acidum (from L. adj. acidus -a -um, sour), an acid; N.L. adj. philus -a -um (from Gr. adj. philos -ê -on), friend, loving; N.L. masc. n. Streptacidiphilus, twisted, acid-loving.
