Vogesella Grimes et al. 1997, gen. nov.
Type species: ¤ Vogesella indigofera (Voges 1893) Grimes et al. 1997.
Etymology: N.L. fem. dim. n. Vogesella, named after Otto Voges to honor his original isolation of Bacillus indigoferus on gelatin plates inoculated with tap water from the central water supply system in Kiel, Germany, in 1893.

Basonym: ¤ Pseudomonas indigofera (Voges 1893) Migula 1900 (Approved Lists 1980).
Other synonym: "Bacillus indigoferus" Voges 1893.
Etymology: N.L. n. indigo (from Fr. n. indigo, derived from L. n. indicum, indigo) the dye indigo; L. suff. -fer -fera -ferum (from L. v. fero, to bear), bearing; N.L. fem. adj. indigofera, bearing indigo.

Vogesella perlucida Chou et al. 2008, sp. nov.

Etymology: L. fem. adj. perlucida, transparent, referring to the transparent and colourless colonies, which distinguish it from the type species Vogesella indigofera, which forms blue-pigmented colonies.
