Xylanimicrobium Stackebrandt and Schumann 2004, gen. nov.
Type species: ¤ Xylanimicrobium pachnodae (Cazemier et al. 2004) Stackebrandt and Schumann 2004.
Etymology: N.L. neut. n. xylanum, xylan; N.L. neut. n. microbium, microbe; N.L. neut. n. Xylanimicrobium, xylan(-hydrolysing) microbe.
Reference: STACKEBRANDT (E.) and SCHUMANN (P.): Reclassification of Promicromonospora pachnodae Cazemier et al. 2004 as Xylanimicrobium pachnodae gen. nov., comb. nov. Int. J. Syst. Evol. Microbiol., 2004, 54, 1383-1386.

Note: The etymology given by Stackebrandt and Schumann 2004 is the following: N.L. neut. n. xylan (sic), xylan a polysaccharide; Gr. adj. mikros, small; Gr. masc. n. bios, life; N.L. neut. n. Xylanimicrobium, xylan-hydrolysing microbe. However, according to Rule 65, the correct name should be Xylanimicrobius and this name should be in the masculine gender. Consequently, the etymology provided above (see ¤ Etymology) has been changed in order to have a name in the neuter gender.

Type strain (see also StrainInfo.net): strain VPCX2 = DSM 12657 = JCM 13526 = NCCB 100020.
GenBank/EMBL/DDBJ accession number for the 16S rRNA gene sequence of the type strain: AF105422.
Basonym: ¤ Promicromonospora pachnodae Cazemier et al. 2004.
Etymology: N.L. n. Pachnoda, a botanical generic name; N.L. gen. n. pachnodae, of Pachnoda, referring to the source of the micro-organism, Pachnoda marginata.
