Type species: ¤ Zunongwangia profunda corrig. Qin et al. 2007.
Etymology: N.L. fem. n. Zunongwangia, named in honor of Zu-Nong Wang, who has made great contributions to the development of microbiology in China.

Etymology: L. fem. adj. profunda, deep, profound, referring to the environment where the type strain was isolated.
