Caldicoprobacter Yokoyama et al. 2010, gen. nov. (Type genus of the family ¤ Caldicoprobacteraceae Yokoyama et al. 2010).
Type species: ¤ Caldicoprobacter oshimai Yokoyama et al. 2010.
Etymology: L. adj. caldus, hot; Gr. n. kopros, dung, N.L. masc. n. bacter, rod; N.L. masc. n. Caldicoprobacter, a rod from dung growing at elevated temperatures.

Caldicoprobacter oshimai Yokoyama et al. 2010, sp. nov. (Type species of the genus).
Type strain (see also StrainInfo.net): strain JW/HY-331 = ATCC BAA-1711 = DSM 21659.
GenBank/EMBL/DDBJ accession number for the 16S rRNA gene sequence of the type strain: AB450762.
Etymology: N.L. gen. masc. n. oshimai, of Oshima, named after the Japanese microbiologist Tairo Oshima, in honour of his many contributions to our knowledge of thermophiles and their biochemistry.
