Type species: ¤ Caldimicrobium rimae Miroshnichenko et al. 2009.
Etymology: L. adj. caldus, hot; N.L. neut. n. microbium, microbe; N.L. neut. n. Caldimicrobium, microbe living in hot places.

Caldimicrobium rimae Miroshnichenko et al. 2009, sp. nov. (Type species of the genus).
Type strain (see also StrainInfo.net): strain DS = DSM 19393 = VKM B-2460.
GenBank/EMBL/DDBJ accession number for the 16S rRNA gene sequence of the type strain: EF554596.
Etymology: L. gen. n. rimae, of a crack or fissure, referring to the English translation of Treshchinnyi, the hot spring from which the type strain was isolated.
