Type species: ¤ Camelimonas lactis Kämpfer et al. 2010.
Etymology: L. n. camelus, a camel with either one or two humps; L. fem. n. monas, a unit, monad; N.L. fem. n. Camelimonas, a monad isolated from camels.

Camelimonas abortus Kämpfer et al. 2012, sp. nov.
Type strain (see also StrainInfo.net): strain UK34/07-5 = CCM 7941 = CCUG 61094 = CIP 110303 = DSM 24741.
GenBank/EMBL/DDBJ accession number for the 16S rRNA gene sequence of the type strain:
FR851926.
Etymology: L. gen. n. abortus, of a miscarriage, an abortion, referring to the isolation of the type strain from the placental tissue of a cow following a case of abortion.

Etymology: L. gen. n. lactis, of/from milk, referring to milk as the isolation source of the first reported strains.
