Type species: ¤ Castellaniella defragrans (Foss et al. 1998) Kämpfer et al. 2006.
Etymology: N.L. fem. dim. n. Castellaniella, named after Sir Aldo Castellani, a British-Italian bacteriologist, who first described the bacterial genus Alcaligenes in 1919.
