Type species: ¤ Cesiribacter andamanensis Srinivas et al. 2011.
Etymology: N.L. n. cesirum, arbitrary name derived from the acronym CSIR (Council of Scientific and Industrial Research); N.L. masc. n. bacter, rod; N.L. masc. n. Cesiribacter, rod named in honour of the CSIR, the national funding agency which has augmented science and technology development in India.

Etymology: N.L. masc. adj. andamanensis, of or belonging to Andaman Islands, India, referring to the isolation of the type strain.
