Etymology: Gr. adj. khruseos, golden; Gr. n. monas, a unit, monad; N.L. fem. n. Chryseomonas, a yellow unit.

Gilardi 4239 = IAM 13000 = JCM 3352 (the type strain of the species Chryseomonas luteola (Kodama et al. 1985) Holmes et al. 1987) and the 16S rRNA of the strain DSM 50071 = ATCC 10145 (the type strain of the species ¤ Pseudomonas aeruginosa (Schroeter 1872) Migula 1900 (Approved Lists 1980) is 94.0%. This result suggests that Chryseomonas Holmes et al. 1986 emend. Holmes et al. 1987 is a later synonym of ¤ Pseudomonas Migula 1894 (Approved Lists 1980), and that the name ¤ Pseudomonas luteola should be used for this species.
