Cohaesibacter Hwang and Cho 2008, gen. nov. (Type genus of the family ¤ Cohaesibacteraceae Hwang and Cho 2008).
Type species: ¤ Cohaesibacter gelatinilyticus Hwang and Cho 2008.
Etymology: L. part. adj. cohaesus (from L. v. cohaereo), pressed together, clung together; N.L. masc. n. bacter, a rod; N.L. masc. n. Cohaesibacter, rods that appear cohesive with each other.

Etymology: L. neut. n. mare -is, the sea; L. adj. flavus -a -um, yellow; N.L. gen. n. marisflavi, of the Yellow Sea, referring to the isolation of the type strain.
