Type genus: ¤ Cryptosporangium Tamura et al. 1998.
Etymology: N.L. neut. n. Cryptosporangium, type genus of the family; suff. -aceae ending to denote a family; N.L. fem. pl. n. Cryptosporangiaceae, the Cryptosporangium family.
