Etymology: L. pref. de-, from; L. n. sulfur, sulfur; N.L. pref. desulfo-, desulfuricating (prefix used to characterize a dissimilatory sulfate-reducing procaryote); L. fem. n. capsa, box; N.L. fem. n. Desulfocapsa, a sulfate-reducing box.

Etymology: L. n. sulfur, sulfur; L. v. exigo, to demand; N.L. part. adj. sulfexigens, demanding sulfur for growth.
