Type genus: ¤ Desulfonatronum Pikuta et al. 1998.
Etymology: N.L. neut. n. Desulfonatronum, type genus of the family; suff. -aceae, ending to denote family; N.L. fem. pl. n. Desulfonatronaceae, the Desulfonatronum family.
