Etymology: N.L. pref. desulfono- (from N.L. part. adj. desulfonans), desulfonating; N.L. fem. n. spora (from Gr. fem. spora, a seed), a spore; N.L. fem. n. Desulfonispora, desulfonating spore (-former).
