Type species: ¤ Dokdonella koreensis Yoon et al. 2006.
Etymology: N.L. fem. dim. n. Dokdonella, named after Dokdo, an island located on the East Sea in Korea, from where the organisms were isolated.

Etymology: L. fem. adj. fugitiva, fleeing away, fugitive, because the organism fled to Portugal, where it was isolated.
