Type species: ¤ Dongia mobilis Liu et al. 2010.
Etymology: N.L. fem. n. Dongia, named after Professor Xiu-Zhu Dong, a bacteriologist and bacterial taxonomist in China.

Etymology: L. fem. adj. mobilis, motile, pertaining to the motility of the type strain.
