Etymology: Gr. neut. n. edaphos, soil; N.L. masc. n. bacter, a rod; N.L. masc. n. Edaphobacter, rod-shaped soil bacterium.

Etymology: L. v. aggregare, to flock or band together; L. part. adj. aggregans, assembling, aggregating.
