Fibrobacter Montgomery et al. 1988, gen. nov. (Type genus of the order ¤ Fibrobacterales Spain et al. 2012; type genus of the family ¤ Fibrobacteraceae Spain et al. 2012).
Type species: ¤ Fibrobacter succinogenes (Hungate 1950) Montgomery et al. 1988.
Etymology: L. fem. n. fibra, a fibre or filament; N.L. masc. n. bacter, rod or staff; N.L. masc n. Fibrobacter, bacterial rod that subsists on fiber.
