Type species: ¤ Flexistipes sinusarabici Fiala et al. 2000.
Etymology: L. n. flexus, a bending, turning, winding; L. masc. n. stipes, a branch of a tree, stick; N.L. masc. n. Flexistipes, the flexible stick.

Flexistipes sinusarabici Fiala et al. 2000, sp. nov. (Type species of the genus).

Etymology: L. n. sinus, a curve or fold in land, a gulf; L. masc. adj. arabicus, arabic; N.L. gen. n. sinusarabici, of the Arabic gulf, of the Red Sea, describing the place of isolation.
